Call for 2028 Special Issue Proposals
Call for Special Issue Proposals: International Journal of TESOL Studies (IJTS), 2028
The International Journal of TESOL Studies (IJTS) is the flagship journal of the International TESOL Union and is currently indexed in the Web of Science Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI) and Scopus (Q1). IJTS invites proposals from interested scholars to serve as guest editors for special issues to be published in 2028.
The journal prioritizes special issues that push the boundaries of current knowledge and practice. We especially welcome proposals that engage with cutting-edge research, debated topics, or emerging theories that challenge established paradigms and open new paths for inquiry. Special issues are expected not merely to aggregate prior scholarship, but to advance the field by offering original frameworks and fresh perspectives on language education in a rapidly changing world.
Proposal Submission Guidelines
Prospective Guest Editors are required to submit the following two documents:
1.Curriculum vitae of the proposed editorial team;
2.A special issue proposal of no more than 800 words, comprising: theme title, rationale, aims and scope, potential topics, anticipated contributions, timeline, and an overview of the editorial process.
Review Criteria
Proposals will be assessed against the following criteria:
-Relevance to the journal's scope and current priorities in TESOL;
-Potential to attract high-quality submissions that advance theoretical or practical knowledge;
-Diversity of perspectives and representation across regions, contexts, and educational settings;
-Timeliness of the proposed theme within the broader academic landscape, particularly its capacity to address emergent challenges or opportunities;
