The Global English Education China Assembly (henceforth “the Assembly”) has partnered with the International Journal of TESOL Studies (IJTS) in publishing special issues for the Assembly. For the 2020 Assembly, only one special issue was published by IJTS in December 2020, https://www.tesolunion.org/journal/lists/folder/eMTMu0MDQx/. For the 2021 Assembly, three special issues have been planned, the first of which has been published by IJTS in December 2021. The other two will be published in mid-2022 by the International Journal of Computer-Assisted Language Learning and Teaching and the Chinese Journal of Applied Linguistics, respectively.
Organized by China Daily in partnership with TESOL International Association, the Assembly is a high-level international English Language Teaching (ELT) event in China. It aims to promote scholarship and cross-cultural understanding among English educators in China, and to enhance dialogue between China’s ELT professionals with their peers worldwide. Every year, the Assembly brings together over 3,000 attendees consisting of English practitioners, scholars and researchers from different backgrounds to share their knowledge, learn about successful practices and research, and discuss future trends in the field of TESOL.

(1) World Englishes/English as a lingua franca
(2) Teacher education and professional development
(3) Learner/teacher identity and autonomy
(4) English for specific/academic purposes (ESP/EAP)
(5) Curriculum development and material design
(6) Language testing and assessment
(7) AI and foreign language teaching
(8) Global competence development
(9) English for young learners

(13)Other research themes relating to TESOL or applied linguistics
Procedures for full-length paper submissions will be announced at the Assembly’s official WeChat account (TESOL 大会) and website (tesol.i21st.cn) in January 2022. All submissions will go through a double-blind peer review process before consideration for publication.
